Soaring as a Go-To Girl

OK- last week, I left you with a teaser that today we were going to continue our conversation about exploring more and how I experienced a life-changing Bible study. But, before we jump into the details, I want to share with you what happened last week during the IVF World Sprint Championship Canoe Race that took place right down the road from my house on the bayfront in Hilo. It's a big event, with over 30 countries participating!     Now, it just so happened that the beginning of these races was scheduled during the same week as our church's week of prayer and fasting.    My husband and I decided to join a group for a prayer walk to engage with the community and offer prayer.   This isn't something that comes naturally to us, but we've been pressing in for more and felt led to step out of our comfort zone.    On this day, the decision was made to send out smaller groups to head in different directions.    My husband and I got paired with an older gentleman who has early stages of dementia. For some reason, his wife felt it would be better for her to go with another group and her husband to go with us.   So, we set off toward the canoe race, determined not to lose our kupuna partner. We were all nervous and uncertain about what we were even doing!   Yet, God showed up, and I'm pleased to report that we prayed for seven (7)  different people, and our Kupuna partner just came alive and led the way.   We even ran into his high school classmates that he hadn't seen in years- twin brothers. It was the sweetest thing to witness, as I could see the uncertainty in his eyes, yet he boldly asked them if they knew Jesus, and when they responded, "Oh yes," he quickly asked if he could pray for them. They eagerly agreed, and he wrapped one around each of their necks like a bear hug with him positioned in the middle and prayed the sweetest prayer of blessing over them.   He had this radiant smile on his face as he prayed, and as I watched and prayed in agreement, I couldn't help but cry.   It was so precious to witness!   After they thanked him and walked away, my friend looked at me, and he said, "I was so scared- I've never asked anyone before if they knew Jesus and then to pray- I have no idea what I even said. I'm so thankful you were there to help me- my backup- giving me the courage to be bold. I couldn't have done it without you!"    By the time we returned to reconvene with the whole group, our friend couldn't remember all the details of what happened, but his joy and excitement couldn’t be contained, and all he kept saying was we were a powerful team!    And we were!   We gave him confidence, and he helped us connect with the locals! Demonstrating the power of unity. That's what the body of Christ is….  different parts, people, talents, gifts, and abilities. All coming together to work as one- that's where there is strength. That's where there is more.

We were not designed to be “lone rangers” doing life alone!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 confirms it:

“Two are better than one,

because they have a good return for their labor:

10 If either of them falls down,

one can help the other up.

But pity anyone who falls

and has no one to help them up.

11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.

But how can one keep warm alone?

12 Though one may be overpowered,

    two can defend themselves.

A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

You see, there is power when we partner with God and others!

This leads me to the life-changing Bible study- Father’s House by Rachel Faulkner Brown & Karen McAdams. Two lovely ladies from Atlanta, Georgia, who put together the most amazing Bible study I've ever experienced.   Eight weeks discovering that we are on a journey home to Father's House where there is more than we could ever dream!   Learning that we are lavishly loved, fully forgiven, radically righteous, and more! This study has a powerful teaching that completely shifts stagnant mindsets built upon false teaching, tradition, and theology and offers mighty activation encounters with God!   I've done this study twice and would do it again because more is revealed each time! I've helped to lead these studies and have seen a radical change in other women who have invested in taking the time to do the work!

Today, I want to share just a little piece of this study with you, related to what it means to be a "go-to girl" and why it is important.

First, you might wonder what a "Go To Girl" or "Go to Guy" is. (We don’t discriminate here!)  It’s simply a person who has allowed the Holy Spirit to remove the limits on their life. They know who they are and to whom they belong. They've stepped out of the gilded cage- out of their comfort zone, and are walking out of the "adventurously expectant life!"    They have a thirst and hunger for the things of God above the things of this world.   They genuinely believe Jesus when He said in John 14:12-"I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works because I am going to be with the Father."    They believe- they know that they know that they know.    They have faith the size of a mustard seed that moves mountains!

I want to read for you a small selection of their teaching on this topic -as I couldn’t say it any better:

“Life as a daughter in your Father’s House has the potential to be the most exciting life you could ever live. Imagine walking a day in Jesus’s shoes. Picture yourself along the shores of Galilee, where He healed the leper. Or, put yourself in the village of Bethany when Lazarus came stumbling into the sunshine with grave clothes hanging off of him. Jesus was constantly

breaking the glass ceiling on what people believed a mere man could do.

We can easily dismiss His astounding works because He is the Son of God. We think, “Well of course He can do these miraculous things!”

But, ask yourself, who am I? You are the daughter of God! The same Spirit that moved so powerfully in Jesus is the same Spirit that longs to move powerfully in you. The promise Jesus made in John 14:12 is that if you believe in Him, then you will do even greater things because He is going to prepare a place for you in Father’s House. You’ve been given the

permission and power to not only REPEAT what the Father says, but to DEMONSTRATE what He does! In fact, the Gospel is so much more than a story to be repeated - it is truly a “show and tell” Gospel!

As the Holy Spirit continues to make Himself even more real in your life, greater and more powerful things will happen in and through you. What an incredible opportunity we’ve been entrusted with. Let’s not squander it by living inside the limits we’ve placed on ourselves and our Father. If He is in you, then so is His Kingdom realm! Stand on the feet of your Father and dance in His presence. Follow His lead to LIVE and DREAM BIG!”

I just love this!

It's not repeating the gospel—it's demonstrating the gospel!

I know it isn't easy to hear this! It isn't easy to believe it is for you, but I promise it is….I've seen it for myself.    I’ve seen prayers answered. Seen people healed.   Seen demons manifest.

Everything you read in the Bible- is TRUE-  It is REAL. Not just hundreds of years ago-  but NOW!    Not just for Jesus and His disciples but for us too!!   We are not disqualified- all you have to do is read the Bible, and you will see that God always calls the most unlikely the least capable. He makes them qualified, and He equips them with everything they need!  Even to do the incredible!

So, if you have stuck with me this far-   Here’s what I’d like to know…

Are you a “Go to Girl?”   If not, do you at least know one?

Because when life gets hard, your world comes crashing down, loss, betrayal, sickness, death- you don't want to find yourself alone. That cord of three strains that brings strength and power is that Ecclesiastes speaks of – that’s your lifeline.    That “Go to Girl" partnered with the Holy Spirit is powerful!     That's why Scripture says- "the prayers of a righteous person avails much."    I've found my "Go to Girl," she has partnered with my husband and me and done so much in our lives that I continue to be in awe.   And now, I'm learning how to become a "Go to Girl" myself.     And let me tell you-  life has become an amazing adventure!

Ladies, it can happen to you, too! If you are interested in checking out this Bible study, I've provided a link and discount code in my show notes. It is well worth your time and investment—because there really is more!
