Slippers

OK, ladies, this one is just for you.

What comes to mind when you hear “glass slippers?”

The iconic Cinderella story no doubt?

I freely admit Cinderella was my favorite fairytale as a child and I still adore any adaptation from books to movies. Ask my daughter what my favorite movie is, and she will answer (with a trace of exasperation)- Ever After featuring Drew Barrymore as we have watched this Cinderella story countless times.

I love this story, but not for the obvious reasons.

Many see Cinderella as a transformation story- a rags to riches or ugly duckling into the beautiful swan story of transforming power. Most would say Cinderella is about finding your Prince Charming and living a charmed, happily-ever-after life.

I see it as a story of redeeming love; a story that shouts of hope and revelation of true identity.

Can’t we all relate to Cinderella?

She struggled with grief, loneliness, and uncertainties. She wrestled with feelings of unworthiness and inferiority. She faced loss, hardship, and persecution. Life wasn’t what she thought it would be- for her it was a life reduced to daily servitude; seemingly devoid of authentic love.

That is until her Fairy Godmother, and Prince Charming came along.

It was the intersection of their lives that Cinderella was able to embrace her true identity; able to see herself clearly and accept the beauty and value that she possessed. She was able to accept that she was a woman worthy of the love of a Prince (a Prince that never stopped looking for the girl whose foot would perfectly fit the glass slipper).

I wish all women would embrace their own Cinderella story; to understand that their life is so much more than what they see on the surface. To comprehend their self-worth and see their real beauty. To grasp the magnitude of the great love of the King that pursues them.

The Apostle Paul tells us that nothing in all of creation can separate us from the love of God:

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~ Romans 8:38-39

Ladies, God is obsessed with you! He can’t keep His mind off of you. He will pursue you all of the days of your life, and nothing can ever hide you from His great love.

You were created with care and designed for a purpose.

You were so worthy that God gave up everything to be with you. He willingly gave up His beloved son just so your relationship with Him could be restored.

His love is a saving, redeeming love; that provides hope and a future.

God's love is perfect, and there is nothing He wouldn't do for you.

He even has a glass slipper perfectly fashioned to fit your foot!

Just like Cinderella, your happily-ever-after is only possible when you see yourself as worthy. It is only possible when you embrace your true identity. It is only possible when you willingly accept the King’s invitation to become royalty!

Will you accept that there is more to life than what you can see on the surface?

Will you receive you are beloved and worthy?

Will you embrace the love of Christ?

All you have to do is offer Him your foot, so that

He may gingerly slide your glass slipper into place!

Father, thank you that your love is so perfect & that there is nothing that you wouldn't do for us. You pursue us passionately & nothing can ever make you stop. Your love never fails. For those that don't know you intimately, I pray that they will embrace their worth & realize that your love makes them royal.

Nothing compares to you!

“How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!” ~Psalm 139:17-18
