Lasting Love

February 14th- St. Valentine’s Day, the day that Saint Valentine was executed.

(Cue the violins)

Doesn't sound very romantic.

Funny, that we celebrate by devoting the day for the expression of love. Typically, romantic love that traditionally may include gifts, candlelit dinners, wine, flowers, chocolate and the precious ritual of exchanging valentine cards.

With great fondness, I remember Valentines' Day at school, when we would decorate and set out a “mailbox” for the collection of little paper valentines. I loved opening each one and hoping that my name was spelled correctly. I was also very conscious of whether I received a valentine from every classmate. The thought that someone disliked me and wouldn’t give me a card was distressing.

Don’t we all want to feel loved?

Valentine’s Day can certainly bring a range of emotions; the exhilaration of receiving an expression of love from someone special or bitter disappointment of being overlooked and receiving nothing.

So today, please accept this personalized valentine from the one that loves you best:

My Dearest Darling:

I hope this day you feel my heartbeat- drumming with the deep love that I have for you. May every hidden crevice within you reverberate with my passion. Know that there will never be another that is as special as you are in my eyes- you are a precious star.

Each time I think of you my heart skips a beat, and I am overcome with joy. When you smile- you light up my world & when you come to me the air is filled with such a pleasing fragrance you make me giddy.

You are my heart, my joy, my world.

I would do absolutely anything for you- all you need to do is ask. There is nothing in this world that I wouldn’t do for you to know my love, even giving up my life for you!

My greatest desire is that you allow me to lavish you with love all the days of your life and that you truly know that no one loves you like I do for my love never ends!

XOXOXO, God

May we celebrate love today, not the love between two people; instead, the love God has for His most prized possession- YOU!

Thank you, Lord, that your love is eternal. In a world that can be so harsh and cruel your love shines so brightly- never fading, and never changing. Your love is perfect and never ends.

“But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.” ~Psalm 86:15
